Day 38 - Cologne Carnival!

Tämän viikonlopun matkakohteena olikin Cologne (Köln), Saksa! Köln on yksi Saksan vanhinpia kaupunkeja ja joku vuotinen karvevaali kestää mitä, viikon? Kaikki pukeutuvat hienoihin asuihin, syövät bratwurstia ja juovat kaljaa. Otimme taas yhtä mukavan bussimatkan koululta ja nukkuminen oli edelleenkin yhtä epämukavaa, onneksi matka kesti vain 8 (?) tuntia. Paitsi menomatka, koska bussi hajosin keskenkaiken ja odotimme toista bussia 2h keskellä ei mitään :) Noh, pääsimme lopulta perille ja kävimme lounaalla tähän mennessä halvimmassa pizzeriassa, missä olen ollut, pizza 5.9e ja viinilasi 3e. Palasimme hostellille pukeutumaan, matkaseurueessamme oli mukana mm. kuningas ja kuningatar, poliisi, mafioso, seilori, puumanainen, täti Moonika, uimareita tms, smurffi ja niin edelleen. (Arvaatteko mikä näistä mä olin?) Jostain kumman syystä päätimme mennä Shotti baariin klo 16 päivällä, mikä johti siihen, että ilta tuntui loputtoman pitkältä. Hauskaa oli kuitenkin, kävimme muutamassa eri baarissa ja syömässä meetwurstia iltapalaksi. PS. Strongbow maksoi hotellin baarissa euron. :)

This weekend we traveled to Cologne (Köln), Germany! Cologne is one of the oldest cityes in Germany and the annual carneval last for what, a week? Everybody is dressed up to nice costumes, eats bratwurst and drink a lot of beer. We took another very confortable bustrip from the school, but fortunately the trip was only 8 (?) hours, not 12h. Exept the ride to Germany, when the bus broke down in the middle of nowhere and we had to wait 2hours for another one :) Well, we finally arrived and had lunch in the cheapest pizzeria so far, pizza 5,9e and a glass of wine 3. After retuning to the hotel, we changed to our costumes.In our entourage we had the king and the queen, police officer, a guy from the mob, seilor, cheetah, the aunt with a flower hat, swimmers, papa smurf and so on. (Can you quess who I was?). For some weird reason we decided to go to a shot bar at 4pm which led to the fact that the end of the evening felt exhausting. We had fun anyway, visiting a few different bars and eating metwurst. PS. Strongbow sider was 1e in our hotel baar (so cheap!)

Viikonlopun ilo uutiset oli, että pääsin koulun järjestön Culture Connectionin toimintaan mukaan, mikä mm. järjesti tämän matkan monen muun ohella. Pääsen siin luultavasti suunnittelemaan matkoja ja ohjelmaa ja puhumaan ranskaa, jeij :)

The great news of the weekend were that I'm now officially in the school organization Culture Connection, which for example arranged this trip among many others. So I will probably help planning trips or parties for this semester and speak some french too :)

PPS. Olen opetellut kokkaamaan uusia ruokalaleja vaihdon aikana! Oon tehnyt mm. vihannesjuusto pastaa, Wokkia, kana salaattia, chevre salaattia ja nakki risottoa. Tänään teen spagetti carbonaran. Hyvä minä!

PPS. Here I have discovered new things in my kitchen. I've cooked vegetable-cheese pasta, Wok, chicken salad, chevre salad and risotto. Tonight I will do spaghetti carbonara. Way to go Maria!
